Light Root Community Farm’s social and educational mission is supported through LEAF.

We need your support for Light Root Community Farm's mission of healing the earth and healing our communities by restoring our relationship to the land through Agriculture.

Light Root Community Farm is an urban farm that is expanding the ways in which we serve the needs of our community. We are a working biodynamic farm producing grass-fed dairy, pastured organic eggs and vegetable crops. The farm also provides nourishment to our community by giving opportunities for meaningful connection with the land, soil, and animals. People of all ages are hungry for this kind of nourishment and connection to the land. We believe that providing people with connection to the land and animals is just as important as growing nutritious food, building soil health or even carbon sequestration!

Teen Group working with Farmers in Herb Gardens

In 2023 Light Root Community Farm hosted over 700 people for a variety of farm education programs, demonstrations, and field trips, as well as agricultural programming designed to support our community members with mental health, addiction recovery, and teen wellness. In 2024 we will continue to grow our programming and serve even more of our community.

This year we began a collaboration with a local teen group, Natural High's, that supports healthy alternatives for teens. We worked with this group regularly to establish medicinal herb gardens for tea making that can be utilized to support mental health, reduce anxiety, and promote well-being.

The teens were super enthusiastic about being on the farm, getting to interact with the animals, and working in the gardens. We have had requests from many of these teens for more opportunities to engage in the farm. This work is important, our young people need this connection to the land, it offers them hope and purpose in a world that is not meeting this need.

We will be launching additional farm programming for teens in the spring of 2024. We need financial support to get this program off the ground, to develop curriculum and pay farm staff, and to offer scholarships to keep it accessible to as many teens as possible.

We need your help! If you are inspired to support this work please make a financial gift on Colorado Gives Day to the farm's 501-c3 non profit--Living Earth Agriculture Foundation here:
