Light Root Community Farm’s Field Trip Education programs offer a unique opportunity for students to immerse and participate in the work, the beauty and the seasonal rhythms of farm life.

Our half day farm programs begin with the Farmers sharing an introduction to the farm and the role of the animals, the plants, and the soil, and the importance of the Farmer’s role as steward. Students will be led through a variety of seasonal hands-on farm activities such as:

  • Milking a cow and learning about the sacred role of the cow on the farm

  • Garden projects—planting, harvesting, soil health and compost

  • Chicken egg collection

  • Calf Feeding

  • Draft horse working demo and/or wagon ride

  • Moving Cows to Pasture

  • Milling Dry Corn and/or Butter making

  Field Trip Program Time:   9:30am to 12:30pm         

Program Fee:    $540 for groups up to 12 participants. 

For larger groups add on $45 per participant.

Groups are welcome to bring sack lunches and use farm picnic table area from 12:30pm to 1:00 pm after program ends. The farm has outdoor hand-washing facilities and port-a-potty available for use.
